"Curtains and window treatments seem to be an obsession of mine. Perhaps not only curtains, however anyting to do with inside decorating. There appears to be an infinite supply of images exhibiting collections of curtains and window treatments. I've clipped out every one exhibiting the rooms through which have actually cute window shades or sheer curtains. Curtains came to me after more than a decade of tailoring and pattern-making. It was June of 2005 when the curtain bug was born inside of me. I became obsessed with material and window coverings, devouring books, instruction manuals and touring to meet other curtain-makers. I became fascinated with sculptural type of suspended cloth, and how that material functions as a filter between the inside and outside. I became aware of the intimate nature of the curtain when used within the dwelling, how the opening of curtains signified simple issues just like the welcoming of the new day, or the act of drawing the curtains earlier than bedtime provided necessary heat, softness and comfort. In this approach the curtain transcends the easy purpose of aesthetics, it brings us a sense of privateness, texture, peace. Anyway, now I can return to my newest obsession - making a little girl room. And it has been an obsession. I just can?t help it. How often do you get to decorate a little girl?s room? A few of the decisions have been agonizing though. You?d assume I used to be designing a room for the president, however nope, a little girl who probably doesn?t care about complementing colors. But I hope when it?s finished it is going to be fabulous and fun and he or she?ll love it.
